How to watch Philippines at the SEA Games 2023 Online

The Southeast Asian Games, also known as SEA Games, is a biennial multi-sport event featuring traditional and modern disciplines among athletes from Southeast Asia. The 32nd edition of the SEA Games is scheduled to take place in Cambodia from 5-17 May 2023, and the Philippines is set to send 860 athletes to compete for the first-time hosts. The Philippines has been a regular participant in the games since 1977 and has competed in 23 previous editions of the SEA Games.

The SEA Games was originally known as the Southeast Asian Peninsular Games and was founded in 1959 by the nations now recognized as Malaysia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Thailand, and Vietnam. The 1977 edition in Kuala Lumpur marked the first time the event was called the Southeast Asian Games, and it was also the year the Philippines joined the competition.

Eleven nations have been competing at the SEA Games since 2011, including Brunei Darussalam, Timor-Leste, Indonesia, and Singapore. The Philippines hosted the 2019 edition of the SEA Games, which was their most successful outing, securing 387 medals from the 1,115 athletes who competed for the home nation. With their consistent performances over the years, the Philippines has emerged victorious twice in the medal table – in 2005 and 2019 – and they are fifth on the all-time medal table with 3,968 medals, including 1,122 gold.

The 2021 SEA Games was held in Hanoi, Vietnam, from 12 to 23 May 2022, and the Philippines sent a contingent of 656 athletes. The team won 52 gold, 70 silver, and 105 bronze medals for a total of 227 medals at the event. Carlos Yulo, a six-time world medallist, won seven medals at the 2021 SEA Games, including five golds. However, in Cambodia, gymnasts are limited to four events, and only the men's edition is on the programme. Yulo will be competing in the team event, the individual all-around, and aiming to qualify for the parallel bars and high bar finals.

The host broadcaster for the SEA Games 2023 in Cambodia is Cambodia Sports Television (CSTV). In Singapore, the event will be available to watch on dedicated mewatch channels, and in Thailand, coverage is via TV Pool 3HD, 5HD, 7HD, MCOT HD, NBT2HD, GMM25, PPTV HD, and T Sports.
